Black Pound Day is a way for the Black community in the UK to build a better economic infrastructure for the current and future generations. It was founded by Swiss, a BRIT and MOBO Award-winner of So Solid. Swiss has stated: “With the recent unfortunate events I could foresee my community plunging into another cycle of historical trauma. I wanted to somehow repurpose that energy into a positive outcome. Black Pound Day was the result of that motivation.”
There are several reports on corporate racial discrimination that support the need for the UK Black economy to improve their long term economic growth and build their economic infrastructure. A step towards this is the first Black Pound Day held on 27th June 2020 which celebrates black-owned businesses and encourages consumers to shop or invest in a service at black-owned businesses.
At Furnship we are supporting the initiative by creating a spending planner called the ‘Black Pound Day Spending Game Plan’ to make the experience as efficient and effective as possible. Please download the editable planner, with links to black owned business directories from the link below.
